Jenin Olive Oil from Canaan Palestine
500 ml
Tangy & Robust
"Rumi olive trees are the indigenous Souri olive trees of Palestine. The name Rumi refers to the tree's ancient heritage dating back to Roman times. Most Rumi olive trees are 1,000 to 2,000 years old, a testimony to the resilience of the trees and the sustainable agricultural traditions that ensure nutrient-rich olive oil for optimal health. Rumi olive oil offers the most complex flavor in Canaan Palestine's lineup that is sure to excite the palate. A fresh fruity start transcends to tangy, then hints of bitter, and a lingering spicy, peppery finish. This robust olive oil is perfect for dipping fresh bread or enhancing flavor when cooking your favorite dish."
More about the company:
"Jenin is our signature olive oil collected from small-scale farmers who live in villages surrounding the Palestinian city of Jenin. Farmers across Palestine harvest their olives in small batches and bring them to press from the beginning of the olive harvest in October through the end in December. Each batch carries its own distinctive flavor and when combined creates a special blend for the season that becomes their family's signature olive oil. Canaan Palestine honors this age-old tradition by collecting olive oil from the spicy bite of the early harvest to the mild finish toward the end of the harvest.
"The Land of Canaan is the home of the olives, birthplace of the first agriculture on Earth. Ancient olive orchards over 3,000 years old are a testimony to the wisdom of the cultural heritage we've carried through millennia. The land is a permaculture filled with age old food species that have shaped the vibrant nutritious cuisine we enjoy seasonally.
Canaan works with over 2,000 artisan families spanned across 52 different villages. We are engaged year-round with these communities, committed to long-term partnerships with fair-trade principles that ensure transparency, full direct payment, fair prices and purchase guarantee."
